Painting

The best part of the subcollection is composed of pieces of art from the original SVUM fund, f.i. Joža Uprka, Alois Kalvoda, Stanislav Lolek, Roman Havelka, Augustin Mervart, Alfons Mucha. Then there are paintings covering the period from the beginning of the 20th century up the present from both the Czech and Slovak artists.

The collection was gradually completed either by individual purchases of the Gallery or in the 70 s and 80s of the last century, the Ministry of Culture relocated some art work from other galleries. In its acquisition activities, the Gallery has focused predominantly on completing its collection with artists from the broader region - Vladislav Vaculka, Vladimír Vašíček, Jaroslav Král, Bohumír Matal. The collection also comprises of pieces by the painters who presented their art within the triennal called The Young Encounters.
