Permanent exhibition
The permanent exhibition is composed of the works made by the founding generation of the Association of Moravian Visual Arts artists and other artists of the south Moravian region. It shows the works coming from the end of the 19th century up till the present day works of art. Due to lack of space, this exhibition occupies the ground floor and some smaller exhibition halls of the first floor. The exposition in the ground floor is linked with the history of the Association. It commemorates artists working in the region of Moravia by the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, such as painter and sculptor Jakub Obrovský, painters František Bohumír Zvěřina, Hanuš Schwaiger and Karel Žádník. Larger attention has been paid to the works of the Uprka brothers, Joža and his brother Franta. Altogether with their works, this part of exhibition also presents works of Cyril Mandel and Antoš Frolka. The last exhibition hall of the ground floor presents works of some other foundingmembers of the Association: paintings by Stanislav Lolka, Alois Kalvoda, Roman Havelka, František Ondrůšek and Ludvík Ehrenhaft. The exhibition also introduces colour graphics of Bohumír Jaroňka, who, similarly to Joža Uprka was one of the leading representatives of the whole movement. The work of painter and sculptor Jakub Obrovský, member of the younger genration who later became one of the most significant representatives of the Association occupies a larger space of the exhibition. Max Švabinsky and Jan Štursa were also linked with the Association for a limited time and the exhibition presents their work on a smaller scale. One of the most internationally acclaimed artists who had been in contact with the Association was Alfons Mucha. The exposition has his early study of the Slav Epic. The permament exhibition then continues around the staircase where visitors can see some works of Martin Benka and Augustin Mervart. The exhibition in the halls of the first floor presents works of younger artists and later activities of the Association. Visitors can see here these artists : Oldřich Blažíček, Josef Jambor, Bedřich Saňa, Václav Adolf Kovanič, Ferdinand Štábla, Josef Prokop, Karel Novák a Josef Konečný.
